Castle Ink Paperless Scholarship 2012

For My first Scholarship I am tasked with showing the efforts I have taken to reduce, reuse, and recycle.

not my picture, but you get the idea found on
Over the years my household has always taken some necessary measures in order to recycle our aluminum cans after drinking various varieties of soda, but we knew that simply recycling our cans wasn't enough. My family has decided that we would also recycle glass bottles, old newspapers, and even old technology we no longer need.

My family has also recently purchased energy efficient appliances from our washer and dryer to our televisions our dishwasher and our light bulbs we are more energy efficient. We turn off lights when we don't need them, we keep our heater low during the winter, we don't have an air conditioner so we don't need to worry about that during the summer (it gets really hot here in Colorado).

To conserve water we have shortened our shower times to less than five minutes, as I said earlier the dishwasher is efficient. We buy organic food when we can (it is quite expensive) to reduce the amount of chemicals in the environment we even have a small garden where we grow various vegetables.

Organic garden like the one in our back yard
I have recently taken a survey about my environmental footprint from http://www.myfootprint.org/ which was the website that inspired my family to switch our habits to be more environmentally friendly and I found that we reduced the amount of earth's we would need from six to two in just two short years.

The pictures are not mine I found them on the internet so here are the links I found them at.

My Scholarship Blog

One of the newest games I recently purchased
This is my blog page for scholarships. I am using this page so I can post assorted topics from recycling to my career plans, from discussions to population growth, and so much more. All postings are ones that I will be writing by myself and submitting to various scholarship foundations.

About Me

I still follow magic, but can no longer afford playing
My main hobbies include playing video games ( mostly PS3 and PC), I also played magic the gathering for a short period of time, but school became too expensive and time consuming so I had to give it up so I could pursue my intellectual goals.
